Acmamall.com launches Paypal in Malaysia webstore

Acmamall.com celebrates with all of Malaysia with the launch of Paypal in its Malaysia webstore.

“We have been waiting for this moment for a long time. Paypal has painstakingly worked with Bank Negara to allow the Ringgit to be accepted by Paypal,” cheers Christopher Quek, CEO of Acmamall.com.

On 28 Oct 2009, Paypal has finally got its act together and allows Malaysian merchants to accept the Ringgit on their webstores, of which revenues collected can now be dispersed into a Malaysia bank account.

Until recently, Acmamall.com has been an established Paypal merchant since 2007, offering the convenience of Paypal in all its webstores except Malaysia. Acmamall.com accepts Paypal in USD, SGD, AUD, HKD and NZD. It was unable to offer the Ringgit due to limitations of Paypal, much to the dismay of many Malaysian customers.

Malaysia is one of Acmamall.com’s core markets, and offering Paypal to our Malaysian customers gives us more creditability and security for our payment options,” cites Kau Siwei, Chief Marketing Officer of Acmamall.com.

“Paypal is a safe and secure method for payment, and is recognized internationally. I do believe it will give customers a wider choice but we may not see a major flow over to Paypal as Acmamall.com has already six other payment options,” quips Lee Weiliang, Chief Technology Officer of Acmamall.com.

Acmamall.com receives 15% of payments via Paypal from its webstores. With the inclusion of the Ringgit for Paypal, Acmamall.com believes it will see a slight increase in the usage for Paypal. In Malaysia, Acmamall.com currently accepts payment via Maybankard.NET, Maybank2u.com Internet Banking, CIMB Clicks, American Express and Cheques.

Whether Paypal will be an impact to the Malaysia webstore, it remains to be seen. Nevertheless, Malaysia customers can now relish a new payment option before them.

Get those upcoming book titles with Acmamall.com’s Advance Books

Always wanted to read the upcoming Christine Feehan’s Street Game? Introducing Acmamall.com’s revamped Advance Books service, which allows members to order their pre-released book titles!

Acmamall.com previously had a books pre-ordering service in 2002 but it was shelved quickly after due to errors of information given by its suppliers. Acmamall.com’s Advance Books service now relies on an automated feed from its suppliers which provides accurate information on the stock levels.

“We have received feedback from our customers that we should bring back pre-ordering of titles which are due for release. I believe the addition of these 30,000 titles available for pre-ordering will cause our customers to cheer. We also give a further incentive to use this service by offering a 30% discount on pre-released titles, compared to 18% discount on our available titles,” comments Henry Tanaka, Acmamall.com’s Product Manager (Books).

It is indeed a cheer. In fact, during the soft launch of the Advance Books service, Acmamall.com has received over one hundred orders in the first two days alone on Advance Books.

Customers who order Advance Books benefit with convenience, lower prices and free shipping. Visit Acmamall.com’s Bookstore at www.acmamall.com/books.html to get your pre-releases.

With effect from 01 November 2009, Acmamall.com will be revising its shipping charges for books to B$3.25 per book.

“It is unfortunate that a revision on shipping has happened. Our current logistics provider has stopped delivery to Brunei and we have to take on another courier service instead. We will continue to review the shipping costs where possible and pass on savings to our Brunei customers,” says Henry Tanaka, Acmamall.com’s Product Manager (Books). “We will like to thank our Brunei book customers for their continued support and seek their kind understanding.”

For now till 31 Oct 09, shipping charges remains the same.
